Child Safety Standards
Last updated 26 September 2026
WhereToGo has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. This page sets out what is prohibited on the service, how to report it, and what spdev labs Ltd does when a report arrives. It is published so that anyone, anywhere, can hold us to it.
1. Our commitment
We prohibit any content or behaviour that sexualises, exploits or endangers a child. That includes child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming, sextortion, the trafficking of minors, and any attempt to arrange or advertise the sexual abuse of a child. This applies to photos, captions, messages, comments, profile details and anything else a person can put on WhereToGo, whether public or shared with followers only.
2. What is prohibited
- Posting, sharing, requesting or linking to any sexualised depiction of a minor, including drawn, generated or edited imagery.
- Using the app to contact a minor for a sexual purpose, or to arrange a meeting with a minor for such a purpose.
- Sextortion, coercion or threats involving intimate imagery of a minor.
- Advertising, promoting or facilitating the sexual exploitation or trafficking of a minor, including through place pages, threads or profile text.
- Misrepresenting your age to reach minors, or creating an account for a child.
WhereToGo is for adults only. Our Terms of Service require every user to be at least 18, and we remove accounts we believe belong to someone younger.
3. Every photo is screened before anyone sees it
A photo posted to WhereToGo is not published directly. It is first sent to Google Cloud Vision SafeSearch, an automated image-screening service, and a photo that Vision rates as likely or very likely to contain adult or violent content is refused on the spot: it is never stored where other users can reach it, and the person who posted it is told it was not accepted. The screening result is kept with every photo, so a photo that was accepted can be re-examined if it is reported later. Automated screening is a first line, not the whole defence; human review of reports, described below, sits behind it.
4. How to report
Every photo, message, comment and profile in the app carries a Report action, reached from the menu beside it. Choose the reason that fits and add any detail; the report goes straight to us and the person you report is not told who reported them. You can also block a person, which hides you from each other immediately.
If you prefer email, or if you are not a WhereToGo user, write to contact@getwheretogo.com with a link or description of the content and, where possible, the account name. Reports of child sexual abuse are treated as the highest priority.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local police first.
5. What we do with a report
- Review. A human reviews every report of child sexual abuse or exploitation. We do not rely on the reporter to prove it.
- Removal. Content that violates these standards is removed from the service as soon as it is identified, and the account that posted it is terminated. There is no warning step for CSAM.
- Preservation. We preserve the removed material and the account records associated with it, in a way that is not accessible through the app, for the purpose of reporting to the authorities and for as long as the law requires.
- Reporting. We report apparent child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) through its CyberTipline, and to the relevant national authority where the law of that country requires it. In the United Kingdom, where the company is based, that includes cooperating with the National Crime Agency and the Internet Watch Foundation.
- Cooperation. We respond to lawful requests from law enforcement in any country in connection with child safety.
6. Compliance with law
spdev labs Ltd complies with the laws on child sexual abuse material and the protection of minors that apply to it, including the UK Online Safety Act 2023 and the reporting obligations that apply to an online service, and with the child safety requirements of the app stores that distribute WhereToGo. We review these standards at least once a year and whenever the law or the service changes.
7. Point of contact
The designated point of contact for child safety at spdev labs Ltd can be reached at contact@getwheretogo.com. This person is able to speak about our prevention practices and our compliance with these standards, and answers requests from regulators, law enforcement and app stores.
